With over a decade of experience writing for publications like Vanity Fair, Spin, and the Associated Press, I’ve conducted plenty of compelling interviews – and some not-so-intriguing ones. What makes a conversation with the press captivating and quotable? Effective communication.

Which stories offer a window into who we are and what moves us? What are the best ways to share those details? Which accounts should we discuss in depth? Which ones need just a brief mention? How do we tell the difference? What actually makes a great story? Honing in on how to answer these questions will help you understand what reporters are looking for.

Everyone has a story, but can they tell it effectively? I know what I need from an interview to craft a compelling piece. Let me share those gems with you.”

Since 2018, I have been training entertainers, creatives, influencers, and executives on how to identify the best anecdotes, fine-tune key messages, and successfully pivot if asked undesirable questions.

Clients have come to me for everything from a new album release, branding, rebranding, and product launches to how to discuss corporate gains and goals with verve. I have worked with individuals ahead of interviews with Vogue, GQ, Billboard, NME, People, Forbes, Harper’s Bazaar, Essence, Elle, LA Times, New York Post, Rolling Stone, Spin, Complex, XXL, Wonderland, Wired, and Refinery29. I have also prepared clients for red carpet appearances at events like the Grammys and on The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show, The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music, and The Breakfast Club and The Angie Martinez Show on New York’s Power 105.1.

PERSONALIZED TRAINING Sessions

Everyone has a story, but not everyone can tell it effectively – yet! As a seasoned journalist, I know what I need from an interview to craft a compelling piece about who you are and what you care about. Let me share those gems with you.

Via my personalized one-on-one media training sessions, I guide in the development of natural, organic, and thoughtful communication strategies in different settings, from print and digital interviews to TV, podcasts, radio, red carpets, and panels. You learn how to refine your story and talk about yourself and your work naturally and smoothly in ways that don't feel rehearsed.

After building a rapport and establishing trust, we engage in off-camera and on-camera mock interviews until you feel comfortable delivering anecdotes in direct and engaging ways. We know journalists often come with a lot of the same stale questions. But instead of rolling your eyes in boredom, we’ll find ways to liven up chats and navigate nonsense. We’ll also chat about tricks journalists use during interviews as I arm you with tactics to control any conversation. You will come away having found your voice and the skills to deliver your message with clarity and confidence authentically.
